I was in New York last month for the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). I was invited by Kia (the car company) to see the new 2015 Kia Sedona (#WhatsYourSedona). Yes I have yet to write about my trip. I think I'm still processing the experience. It was amazing. I will write more about it and share my photos but for today...flowers and chocolate! 

Anyway when I was in NY for the NYIAS I met a very awesome woman by the name of Jeana from Surf and Sunshine (www.surfandsunshine.com). She introduced me to the social media guy at ProFlowers and Sheri's Berries. I already use ProFlowers and Sherri's Berries so why not take some photos and get some goodies in return?! My honest review of the company is that I already like them and do business with them, hence the hash tag titles! #aintmomgrand is the big program they are wrapping up today in NY. Full circle right?! Anyway enjoy my pics.

Oh it's also Assistant #2's birthday today. She gets to eat some cake pops and the rest I'm sharing with my mom, sister and niece on Sunday for Mother's Day!

I don't usually shoot engagement shots but I couldn't say no to this cute couple! Katie and Maxx traveled all the way from Bakersfield to have a session with me. Katie is a friend of a one of my clients and she said she "stalked me". I told her she was just researching! Love it!

Today is the Best Day EVER

My Assistants and I were in the car driving to school. Assistant Number 1 is in 3rd Grade and likes to proclaim that "This is the best day ever." I love her enthusiasm. I love how excited she is about things. Assistant Number 2, who is in Kindergarten claimed she was "very happy today." She's my wild card - either very happy or very NOT happy. Both girls in a great mood - I'm in a great mood. I didn't yell in the morning. Dad made lunches. It was a good morning.

Valentine's Day is tomorrow. We wrote our names on all the class cards and attached obligatory candy. It was tiring and after 26 times writing her very long name, Assistant #2 was not thrilled but it's part of the fun of it. I haven't taken any Valentine's Day Photos of the Assistants this year. Last year I offered Mini Sessions. This year I've been busy which is amazing and unexpected. I guess it should be expected but I didn't want to be overly enthusiastic. I guess I should take a lesson from my very adorable assistants - every day is the best day ever. Enthusiasm is important. I know that. Genetics, right?! I forget everyone in a while and I'm so thankful for my Valentines. Everyone - go make this the best day EVER and if it's not, then the next day will be.

Happy Holidays from our family to yours! We hope you have a lovely holiday season. Enjoy lots of hot coco, decorating, goodies, baking, and family activities together. Every time of the year is special with your family but it's so nice to give them extra hugs right now. They don't stay little forever. I keep asking them to stop growing. "We can't!" is their reply. Sigh. 

I've been shooting some portraits of families who aren't together very often. The holidays are a great time to squeeze that family portrait in. The rain interrupted my last shoot like that and we couldn't reschedule. Family was heading back that day. We did our best and although I was disappointed at first with the outcome (not my usual style), I was happy that I was able to provide this moment and memories for the family. I love what I do.
